The contemporary record
UFO. UAP.
What is actually known?
The language changed from “UFO” to “UAP,” but the central problem remains: an observation without enough reliable data is not yet an explanation.
The Department of War’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office—AARO—collects and analyzes reports across air, sea, space, and transmedium domains. Its public record belongs in this inquiry because it shows both the seriousness of the question and the discipline required before drawing a conclusion.
Unresolved does not mean extraterrestrial. Resolved does not mean the original witness imagined the event. It means evidence must lead interpretation.
FY2025 · Official AARO record
The public record,
by the numbers.
Information cutoff: May 30, 2025. Report published July 20, 2026.
What the report says
Known.
Unknown.
Not presumed.
Most resolved cases were ordinary objects.
AARO attributed resolved reports to balloons, satellites, birds, aircraft, unmanned systems, a commercial rocket launch, and a manned jet pack.
Some cases remain open because the data is insufficient.
The active archive preserves reports that cannot yet be assessed. AARO can reopen them if better sensor data or new analytical methods become available.
No recovered extraterrestrial material has been verified.
The FY2025 report states that no evidence suggests a U.S. government or private entity has captured or exploited UAP-derived material.
The investigation is multi-domain.
Officially, UAP can involve airborne, maritime, spaceborne, or transmedium detections—not only objects seen in the sky.
What did the instruments detect?
AARO asks whether observations can be identified through sensor data, intelligence analysis, modeling, and corroboration. Its categories concern evidence, safety, technology, and national security.
What kinds of beings and orders can Creation contain?
The book asks a different question of Torah, Tanakh, Talmud, Midrash, and Kabbalistic literature: how classical Jewish sources understand non-human intelligence, heavenly beings, other worlds, and the boundaries of human knowledge.
The records should not be collapsed into one another. Their value lies in the conversation between disciplined observation and disciplined interpretation.
